The Far North Bicentennial Park (known as the 'Hillside' by the locals) is roughly 4000 acres and encompass 5 smaller parks. Although a majority of the trails here are double track wide x-country ski trails there are many trails here ranging from a 30' pipeline right-of-way to fairly technical singletrack. The trails for the most part are all well marked with names & small locator maps and there are large signs/maps at the major trailheads. There are four different areas within the park that are all interconnected, the Campbell Tract with its well manicured, fairly flat trails, leaving the Tract are a few cross country trails leading to the Hillside areas. <br />
The North Bivouac area consists of several loops that vary in length and is also the main access to the Tank Trail. A few trails in the North area are 'winter only' as they do cross wetlands, please consult an area map. The South Bivouac is a connector to the Multi-use corridor and the Hillside areas. Outside of the Campbell Tract most of the trails are designed as loops varying in length and difficulty level, most are hard pack natural soil with a few roots & rocks thrown in. <br />
The lower Hillside area is a network of double wide ski trail loops developed in a bit of rolling hill type terrain with a few sections of singletrack connecting them periodically. From the wide South Gasline Tr (multi-use corridor) East is the Upper Hillside, from here the terrain is much steeper and more challenging than the surrounding park. This area is made up of mainly the several miles of the challenging Spencer Loop, the Upper Gasline Tr and the Lama singletrack tr. Near the top of the Gasline Tr between Spencer's and the Eastern edge of the FNBP is the recently built STA singletrack trails.<br />

**Rovers Run is one of the trails connecting the Campbell Tract and the South Gasline Tr, it runs through a heavily forested area along the Campbell Cr. An recent increase in human encounters with bears along this trail has prompted the officials to close it seasonally, please abide by posted notices.**
The FNBP is a very large area situated on the Eastern edge of Anchorage in the foothills of the Chugach Range. There are no less than 17 official trailheads and many smaller, local ones. Some of the main access points are as follows; <br /><br />From the Seward Highway (AK1) head east on Tudor rd aprox 2.5 miles to a right turn onto Campbell Airstrip rd. At about 1 mile is a parking lot and trailhead for the Campbell Tract, at 2 miles there is a parking lot on each side of the road, these are the North & South Bivouac trailheads.<br /><br /><br /><br />Again from the Seward Highway heading east on Abbott rd 3.8 miles from the Seward Highway is a parking lot for the actual Hillside Park Trails, The South Gasline Tr (multi-use corridor) and the rest of the FNBP. From this point Abbott rd heads uphill and turns into Hillside dr, turn left on Upper Omalley then left on Prospect dr, follow this road for 1.5 miles to the Prospect Heights parking and trailheads. This trailhead is actually located in the Chugach State Park and is access for trails there, however following the Gasline trail West (downhill) for a few hundred yards will bring you to the eastern boundary of the FNBP.<br /><br />
